A Short (and Long Overdue) Update
A quick update on how things are going and plans for the future.
Forget the formalities… It Happened!
I have entered my “employed” era once again. It’s like slipping on an old coat, the familiarness of schedules and time sheets wrapping around me, but this coat is a little nicer than that of my last one. It adheres more to my style too, with silver “writing-centric” buttons as opposed to the gold “customer service” ones, and it doesn’t feel too heavy when I put it on.
Not only does this coat seem to be a better fit for me, but there’s also… two of them? Somehow, by some miraculous turn of fate, not only did I find one job, but another came knocking on my door at the same exact time.
About two weeks after I posted the original introduction to this series, an email popped up in my inbox requesting an interview in response to one of my recent applications. (Note: This was the first interview request I had received in my eight months of searching, and yes, I did cry.) I slowly made my way up the ladder, and after three rounds of interviews, I got the job!
Throughout those few weeks of interviews, though, another opportunity was brought to my attention, and since both positions are part-time, I decided to take on that job too. This coat is a bit tighter of a fit, but it still buttons all the way and keeps me protected from the cold.
But yes, to make a long story short, I am fortunately no longer putting in the hours to find a job but am rather doing work that I enjoy (and am paid) to do. A weight has definitely been lifted off my shoulders, and I couldn’t be happier or feel luckier than I have these past several months.
With this update out of the way, now’s the time for some housekeeping.
This series was originally created under the pretense of recording my pitfalls when it came to looking for a job post-college; however, that doesn’t necessarily fit at the present moment, namely because I’m now doubly employed. I would hate to see this series wrapped up in only two posts seven months apart, though, so I may want to treat this as a catch-all of posts about navigating this new chapter of my life. Getting a job was definitely a high in this series, but there are certainly still lows as I try to figure out these Big Girl jobs while also juggling everything else life decides to throw at me.
I don’t have a set schedule in mind, but I definitely want to post more frequently than I have been, that being once every seven months (oof).
Until next time!
Love the coat analogies!
